To those who have devoted their lives to dance, sometimes called dancesport, dance matters greatly. These are the people to whom the future, the needs and wishes of the dancer matter.
It is also an unfortunate fact that certain matters have divided the dance world, there are those prepared to work simply for their own power and ignoring the needs and wishes of the dancers - the people who should matter most.

The World Dance Council are pleased to make the announcement that their President Mr. Donnie Burns M.B.E. has recently been the recipient of two Special Awards. The first Award was made by the Russian Olympic Committee to our President for his outstanding work for Russian Dancers, for Russia and for the good of Dancing as a competitive discipline. The following day there was a separate Award from the Russian Government. To see the magnificent service to dance by our President honoured in this manner is a tribute to his hard work over many years and we extend our most sincere congratulations.

The President and Presidium of the World Dance Council are pleased to announce that, after many months of discussion and contact between both organisations, they have now completed negotiations with the World Anti Doping Agency. They have agreed a programme suitable for those involved in competitive dance based on the WADA Anti Doping Rules and these rules will be integrated into the constitution of the Council and the competition rules of the WDC Amateur League. The WDC has long and indisputably supported the principle and ethics of the Agency. Doping in any form has not been acceptable in competitive activities for the WDC and WDC AL and especially not when ballroom dancing as a competitive discipline was concerned.
