To those who have devoted their lives to dance, sometimes called dancesport, dance matters greatly. These are the people to whom the future, the needs and wishes of the dancer matter.

It is also an unfortunate fact that certain matters have divided the dance world, there are those prepared to work simply for their own power and ignoring the needs and wishes of the dancers - the people who should matter most.

This website is dedicated to all those to whom dance matters, to whom freedom matters.

DANCESPORT will NOT be 2020 Olympic Medal Sport!

Eight sports, including wakeboard and sport climbing, will battle it out for a spot in the 2020 Olympics, the International Olympic Committee said.

London 2012 - Wakeboard in line for 2020Baseball and softball, the two sports removed after the 2008 Games, as well as wakeboard, squash, sport climbing, rollersports, karate and the martial art of wushu, will be evaluated and possibly reduced further in early 2013, IOC President Jacques Rogge recently  told reporters.

"Twelve sports were considered, eight were retained," Rogge said.

Surfing, dancing, bowling and netball missed out.

Rogge said a final list would be put to the vote in late 2013 at the IOC session in Buenos Aires for one spot.

ONE SPOT.

This must be the final nail in the coffin of Dancesport as an Olympic Medal Sport so when will we get an honest announcement from the IOC Dancesport International Federation that it realizes it cannot meet the Olympic requirements, that countless thousands of Euros have bee wasted in pursuing this ambition.  Great damage has been inflicted on Dance in the process.  Unity has been destroyed.  In many countries the WDSF has lost support through its policies and this will further harm Dancesport.

First we were told it would be 2004, then 2008, then 2012, followed by 2016 and then 2020.  All red herrings. All false propaganda just hype.

Rather than  showing honesty and facing up to failure we now immediately get the spin and the hype it is going to be 2024.

The Olympic Dancesport Dream became an Olympic Dancesport Nightmare  and the final line should not be drawn.  No more FALSE CLAIMS. The only people who now take any notice of the WDSF Presidium statements are the WDSF Presidium themselves.  The rest of the world has wised up and moved on.

Mr Reg Challinor left comment in a previous item re the IOC. I believe that his words are very relevant and therefore I would like to repeat Reg Challinor | July 11, 2011 The Olympic dream is just that. If DanceSport was going to become an Olympic sport it would have been added to the programme some years ago. It is a waste of time and money and we dont need it. There are plenty of sports that are very successful without Olympic status. All that happens is that the WDSF goes along and says "look what we have done" and the IOC pat them on head and say "good boys and girls now go away and come back when you have something else to show us" They are just being polite.

What the IOC need to do is question their International Federation why as a governing body they are damaging dancesport, causing division, disunity, and ultimately a massive drop in support. They need to question their IF why its policy is one of Exclusion and not Inclusion. There is no doubt that it is the Olympics which has been responsible for the conflict we witness today - and dancesport is never going to be a medal sport anyway.
