To those who have devoted their lives to dance, sometimes called dancesport, dance matters greatly. These are the people to whom the future, the needs and wishes of the dancer matter.

It is also an unfortunate fact that certain matters have divided the dance world, there are those prepared to work simply for their own power and ignoring the needs and wishes of the dancers - the people who should matter most.

This website is dedicated to all those to whom dance matters, to whom freedom matters.

IDSF MISINFORMATION Part Two

How unfortunate for both Dancesport and Competitive Dance that some are prepared to spread misinformation to serve their own ends without a thought for the potential to damage. There s one fact which is always very consistent. The IDSF absolutely refuse to listen to what the competitors wish.  Over and over we hear the words "I only want to dance and compete".  For IDSF members their pleas fall on deaf ears.  The IDSF Presidium listen only to their own political aspirations.    Let us now examine a document from 2006.  Yes old but still hugely relevant today and it explains so much of the current turmoil.   What a magnificent collection of misinformation we have in this International Professional Dance Sport Council declaration .   To try to simplify I will enter (Note A, Note B, Note C, etc ) and at the end Make my Obse

IDSF MISINFORMATION Part One.

One of the most important elements for any World Authority is that their words, their Public Statements are factual, honest, a true reflection of circumstances. When this does not happens their credibility is compromised and their integrity brought into question.   It is therefore deeply regrettable that one World body, with the ambitions to rule the world, continually and consistently spreads misinformation. This is damaging to the very activity they should be attempting to promote and develop. With division, disharmony, intentions to destroy to the old Ballroom and Latin American dancing will never achieve the status and recognition it so deserves.     No one would ever deny that it is essential there be development, progressive new thinking, but you can never build new whilst attempting to destroy the tried and trusted foundations. It is precisely the reason why there is no better organ

IF DanceSport is Sport and Competitive Dance is ART?

The International DanceSport Federation have become increasingly belligerent and insistant that they are a Sports Body and the World Dance Council are not.   Ok so they believe they are right (as 100% of the time they insist they are). IDSF is Sport.  WDC is not.  Certaibly WDC is a members of UNESCO CID.  UNESCO United Nationals Education, Scientific Cultural Organisation. The International Dance Council CID UNESCO   CID is the official umbrella organization for all forms of dance in all countries of the world. It is a non-governmental organization founded in 1973 within the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, where it is based. It is the worldwide forum bringing together international, national and local organizations, as well as select individuals active in dance. CID represents the art of dance in general and is recognized by UNESCO, national an

LIVE FROM a Grand Slam Final of the future :))

Ladies and gentlemen We want to welcome you to this great Grand Slam Final LIVE. It is being brought direct to you from the Colosseum in Rome so there are spectacular photo opportunities but it is also a fitting venue as slaves have fought for their Freedom and lives here many times. Carlos the inconsistent wishes you to forget that in the not too distant past he went on record to claim "Dancesport is not entertainment". That was Mondays policy and today it is Fridays Policy. Carlos wants you to know this is surely sport. It was the opinion that "We have elevated Dance to SPORT status and changed everything to make it entertainment for the media." We were privileged to be taken with the judges in their new compulsory uniforms (looking like an out of place song troupe) as they were ushered into a back room and given their orders. "We want no Non progressive judges here. THIS IS SPORT - Fo

The Hypocrisy of IDSF and their Member bodies

The Sports Director of the Malaysian Dance Sport Federation (the IDSF Member for that country) has his own "blog". In his opening address we can read these words -     MYDF is a Sports Body for both Amateur and Professional, and like any Sports Body we have rules to follow. That is reality     This to explain the IDSF policy of bans, boycotts, threats, denying dancers the right to dance, and coaches/adjudicators the right to work.     We then read his blinkered view on the serious developments in dance. Displaying outrageous hypocrisy he accuses the British Dance Council of Double Standards!! What was their crime they wrote a letter asking was an event to be run under BDC Rules and if not reminding the organisers of the Rules of the BDC.  These wotds appear from our Sport

IDO (International Dance Organisation) and the IDSF 2012 Vision

The International Dance Organization (IDO), is a World Federation with a membership of over 90 Nations, representing more than 250,000 dancers, from six continents. The IDO grants the rights to conduct world and continental championship events and cups in its dance disciplines     The IDO has for many years held Associate Membership with both the WDC and the IDSF. It represents dancers in many disciplines including Salsa. Merengue, Argentine Tango, Street Dancing, Hip Hop and Disco. It is the recognised World Authority in these and other non Ballroom & Latin American dancing (the 10 dances)     For many years they were an important link in the IDSF Vision 2012. However it would now appear they are about to reject 2012 and will leave the IDSF and be linked only wit

IDSF, The World Games, The World Artistic Games.

As the IDSF Olympic dream becomes ever more distant (and the Italian Judging Scandal cannot help) there seems to be increased frenzy on the part of the IDSF President and Presidium to convince people everything is "on track".   We now have the latest "white elephant" being paraded - "The World Artistic Games". 8 sports only !! Originally we we were told these "games" were for  "sports" which relied upon music. Synchronised diving, etc. rely on music ? Come on get real.   The World Games is for sports which are NOT Olympic Medal Sports but there are always attempts to impress the world as to its importance. Ask yourself when did you sit enthralled before the TV watching the "World Games"? I doubt if even once.     One asks what are Sport Accord are about here. Are these&nb

2 Press Releases by IDSF President

Recently there have been 2 letters written by the IDSF President (2011/4 and 2011/5) and it would seem that there is a general sense of alarm in the IDSF. The President is claiming that there is widespread misinformation. In that respect he is very correct but the question must be who is distributing the misinformation and these letters open many questions. . IDSF, it would seem, are so alarmed at recent developments that they have written to the President of Sports Accord and the President of ARISF. It seems the IDSF message is believe us and ignore the evidence and everyone else. Panic? Frustration? It would seem that the WDC Open Market Policy, the principles that everyone involved in competitive dance should have Freedom to Dance and Freedom to Work and be treated with dignity are a huge thorn in the side of the IDSF and causing them chagrin. These are principles enshrined in the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights and the Olympic Chart

Freedom of Choice.

In recent months the IDSF President has been very vocal frequently using the expression "Freedom of choice". It seems that he and his Presidium are deeply perturbed by the Open Market Policy of the World Dance Council. and which IDSF cannot match  To their credit the WDC impose no limits or restrictions on their members. They are free to work and dance wherever they choose. They are free to belong to as many dance organisations as they wish.  The WDC respects the principle of Freedom to dance andf that of course means they respect the basic human right of all dancers.  What does IDSF intend with their definition of "Freedom of Choice"?  Very simple totally control of the dancer and their rights.  They are stripped of their rights.  Do "Control" and "Choice" really belong side by side?  Of course not. They are threatened that is an "Unregistered Event" d
